Causes degeneration of the spinal cord, with paralysis. Brainfag and sexual excitement. Acts upon the generative organs likely via the lumbar facilities of the spinal cord; prostration, weak spot and ache of back, pins and needle sensation in extremities. Neurasthenia (Oxal ac). Muscular debility. Heavy worn-out feeling. Myelitis with spasms and prostration. Writer’s palsy. Progressive, pernicious anaemia. Uraemia with whole anuria. Mind.–Lack of will-power; disinclined to work. Cerebral softening. Dementia with prostration, sits nonetheless and listless.
Head.–Head pains; relieved through bandaging tightly. Occipital pain; worse, slightest intellectual exertion. Vertigo and noises in ear. Boils inside ears and returned of neck. After extended intellectual strain, with anxiousness and dread of failure at examination. Brain fag.
Eyes.–Chronic catarrhal conjunctivitis with copious, thick yellow discharge.
Stomach.–Bitter taste. Aversion to food.
Urinary.–Scanty; entire anuria. Dribbling micturition. Urine consists of plenty indican, granular cylinders and fatty degenerated epithelium. Inflammation of kidneys with profound weakness, dark, bloody, scanty urine. Nightly urging.
Male.–Emissions profuse, accompanied through notable exhaustion, except sensual dreams. Priapism; satyriasis. Hard erections, with ache in testicles and up cord. Prostatic hypertrophy, mainly in instances no longer too a long way advanced.
Female.–Pain in left ovary and leucorrhoea earlier than menstruation. Pruritus vulvae.
Extremities.–Burning alongside spine. Great weakness. Tired, heavy feeling all over body, specially limbs; worse, exertion. Feet cold. Cannot get warm. Acute descending paralysis.
Modalities.–Worse, least exertion, particularly mental, after sleep, moist weather. A summer time or warm climate remedy; affected person is worse then. Better, from bloodless air, bloodless water, tight pressure.
Relationship.–Compare: Oxal ac; Gels; Phos; Sil; Arg nit. Compare: Zinc pic (facial palsy and paralysis agitans); Ferr pic (buzzing in ears, deafness; persistent gout; epistaxis; prostatic troubles); Calc pic (boils in and round ears).
Dose.–Sixth potency.
