Aching, soreness, restlessness, prostration, are usual signs and symptoms guiding to Phytolacca. Pre-eminently a glandular remedy. Glandular swellings with warmth and inflammation. Has a effective impact on fibrous and osseous tissues; fasciae and muscle sheaths; acts on scar tissue. Syphilitic bone pains; continual rheumatism. Sore throat, quinsy, and diphtheria. Tetanus and opisthotonos. Decrease of weight. Retarded dentition.

Mouth.–Teething youth with irresistible want to chunk the tooth together. Teeth clenched; decrease lip drawn down; lips everted; jaws firmly set; chin drawn down on sternum. Tongue crimson tip, feels tough and scalded; bleeding from mouth; blisters on side. Mapped, indented, fissured, with yellow patch down center. Much stringy saliva.
Throat.–Dark pink or bluish red. Much ache at root of tongue; smooth palate and tonsils swollen. Sensation of a lump in throat (Bell; Lach). Throat feels rough, narrow, hot. Tonsils swollen, specially right; dark-red appearance. Shooting ache into ears on swallowing. Pseudo-membranous exudation, grayish white; thick, tenacious yellowish mucus, hard to dislodge. Cannot swallow some thing warm (Lach). Tension and stress in parotid gland. Ulcerated sore throat and diphtheria; throat feels very hot; ache at root of tongue extending to ear. Uvula large, dropsical. Quinsy; tonsils and fauces swollen, with burning pain; can’t swallow even water. Mumps. Follicular pharyngitis.
Abdomen.–Sore spot in proper hypochondrium. Rheumatism of stomach muscles. Colic at navel. Burning griping pains. Bruised feeling via epigastrium and abdomen. Constipation of the aged and these with vulnerable heart. Bleeding from rectum.
Urine.–Scanty, suppressed, with ache in kidney region. Nephritis.
Female.–Mastitis; mammae difficult and very sensitive. Tumors of the breasts with enlarged axillary glands. Cancer of breast. Breast is hard, painful and of pink hue. Mammary abscess. When baby nurses, ache goes from nipple all over body. Cracks and small ulcers about nipples. Irritable breasts, earlier than and throughout menses. Galactorrhoea (Calc). Menses too copious and frequent. Ovarian neuralgia of proper side.
Male.–Painful induration of testicles. Shooting alongside perineum to penis.
Heart.–Feeling as if coronary heart leaped into throat (Pod). Shock of ache in cardiac location alternating with ache in proper arm.
Respiratory.–Aphonia. Difficult breathing; dry hacking, tickling cough; worse at night time (Mentha; Bellad). Aching pains in chest, via mid-sternum; with cough. Rheumatism of decrease intercostals.
Back.–Aching pains in lumbar region; pains streaking up and down backbone into sacrum. Weakness and stupid ache in vicinity of kidneys. Back stiff, particularly in morning on rising and throughout damp weather.
Extremities.–Shooting ache in proper shoulder, with stiffness and lack of ability to increase arm (see Heart). Rheumatism pains; worse in morning. Pains fly like electric powered shocks, shooting, lancinating, transferring swiftly (Puls; Kali bich). Pain in beneath aspect of thighs. Syphilitic sciatica. Aching of heels; relieved via elevating feet. Pains like shocks. Pain in legs, affected person dreads to get up. Feet puffed; ache in ankles and feet. Neuralgia in toes.
Fever.–High fever, alternating with chilliness and incredible prostration.

Antidotes: Milk and salt; Bellad; Mezer.
Dose.–Tincture, to 0.33 potency. Externally for mastitis.
