Phenol-Carbolic Acid
Carbolic Acid is a effective irritant and anaesthetic. A languid, foul, painless, unfavourable remedy. Stupor, paralysis of sensation and motion, feeble pulse and depressed breathing, demise due to paralysis of respiratory centers. Acts principally on the central worried system. Increased olfactory sensibility.
Produces intellectual and bodily languor, disinclination to study, with headache like a band. Very marked acuteness of scent is a robust guiding symptom. Stomach signs are additionally important. Pains are terrible; come and go suddenly. Physical exertion brings on abscess somewhere. Putrid discharges (Bapt). Scarlet fever, with marked tendency to destruction of tissue internally, and fetid odor. Spasmodic coughs. Arthritis (See Dose).
Head.–Disinclined to intellectual work. Tight feeling, as if compressed by means of a rubber band (Gels; Mahonia). Orbital neuralgia over proper eye. Headache, better, by way of inexperienced tea; whilst smoking.
Nose.–Smell very acute. Putrid discharge. Ozaena, with fetor and ulceration. Influenza and ensuing debility.
Throat.–Ulcerated patches on interior of lips and cheeks. Burning in mouth to stomach. Fauces red, and included with exudation. Uvula whitened and shriveled. Putrid discharge. Almost not possible to swallow. Diphtheria, fetid breath, regurgitation on swallowing liquids, however little ache (Bapt). Face dusky red; white about mouth and nose. Rapid sinking of essential forces.
Stomach.–Appetite lost. Desire for stimulants and tobacco. Constant belching, nausea, vomiting, darkish olive green. Heat rises up oesophagus. Flatulent distention of belly and abdomen. Painful flatulence frequently marked in one section of the bowel (Sulpho-Carbolate of Soda). Fermentative dyspepsia with awful style and breath.
Stool.–Constipation, with very offensive breath. Bloody, like scrapings of intestines. Great tenesmus. Diarrhoea; stools thin, black, putrid.
Urine.–Almost black. Diabetes. Irritable bladder in ancient guys with commonplace urination at night, of possibly prostatic nature. Use 1x.
Female.–Discharges continually offensive (Nitr ac; Nux; Sep). Pustules about vulva containing bloody pus. Agonizing backache throughout loins, with dragging-down thighs. Pain in left ovary; worse strolling in open air. Erosions of cervix; fetid, acrid discharge. Leucorrhoea in teenagers (Cann s; Merc; Puls; Sep). Puerperal fever, with offensive discharge. Irritating leucorrhoea, inflicting itching and burning (Kreos).
Extremities.–Cramps in fore section of leg, shut to tibia in the course of walking. Gnawing pains in shin bones. Arthritis.
Skin.–Itching vesicles, with burning pain. Burns have a tendency to ulcerate.
Relationship.–Compare: Chrysarobin (local in ringworm of the scalp 5-10 per cent in glycerine and alcohol. Equal parts). Ars; Kreosot; Carbo; Guano (Violent headache as from a band round head. Itching of nostrils, back, thighs, genitals. Symptoms like hay-fever).
Antidote: Alcohol; Vinegar; Chalk; Iod. Glauber’s Salt in watery solution.
Incompatible: Glycerine and vegetable oils.
Dose.–Third to thirtieth potency. Phenol in Arthritis, in accordance to Goodno. Must be clearly pure. Crystals Solution (25 %) in equal components of water and glycerine, dose 20 minims nicely diluted three instances day by day (Bartlett).
