The weather-cock amongst remedies.
The disposition and intellectual kingdom are the chief guiding signs to the choice of Pulsatilla. It is pre-eminently a lady remedy, specially for mild, gentle, yielding disposition. Sad, crying readily; weeps when talking; changeable, contradictory. The affected person seeks the open air; continually feels higher there, even although he is chilly. Mucous membranes are all affected. Discharges thick, bland, and yellowish-green. Often indicated after abuse of Iron tonics, and after badly-managed measles. Symptoms ever changing. Thirstless, peevish, and chilly. When first serious impairment of fitness is referred to age of puberty. Great sensitiveness. Wants the head high. Feels uncomfortable with solely one pillow. Lies with arms above head.
Mind.–Weeps easily. Timid, irresolute. Fears in nighttime to be alone, dark, ghost. Likes sympathy. Children like fuss and caresses. Easily discouraged. Morbid dread of the contrary sex. Religious melancholy. Given to extremes of pleasure and pain. Highly emotional. Mentally, an April day.
Head.–Wandering stitches about head; pains prolong to face and teeth; vertigo; higher in open air. Frontal and supra-orbital pains. Neuralgic pains, setting out in proper temporal region, with scalding lachrymation of affected side. Headache from overwork. Pressure on vertex.
Ears.–Sensation as if some thing have been being compelled outward. Hearing difficult, as if the ear had been stuffed. Otorrhoea. Thick, bland discharge; offensive odor. External ear swollen and red. Catarrhal otitis. Otalgia, worse at night. Diminishes acuteness of hearing.
Eyes.–Thick, profuse, yellow, bland discharges. Itching and burning in eyes. Profuse lachrymation and secretion of mucus. Lids inflamed, agglutinated. Styes. Veins of fundus oculi appreciably enlarged. Ophthalmia neonatorum. Subacute conjunctivitis, with dyspepsia; worse, in heat room.
Nose.–Coryza; stoppage of proper nostril, urgent ache at root of nose. Loss of smell. Large inexperienced fetid scales in nose. Stoppage in evening. Yellow mucus; plentiful in morning. Bad smells, as of ancient catarrh. Nasal bones sore.
Face.–Right-sided neuralgia, with profuse lachrymation. Swelling of decrease lip, which is cracked in middle. Prosopalgia toward nighttime until midnight; chilly, with pain.
Mouth.–Greasy taste. Dry mouth, barring thirst; needs it washed frequently. Frequently licks the dry lips. Crack in center of decrease lip. Yellow or white tongue, blanketed with a tenacious mucus. Toothache; relieved via retaining bloodless water in mouth (Coff). Offensive smell from mouth (Merc; Aur). Food, in particular bread, tastes bitter. Much candy saliva. Alternations of taste, bitter, bilious, greasy, salty, foul. Loss of taste. Desire for tonics.
Stomach.–Averse to fats food, heat food, and drink. Eructations; style of meals stays a lengthy time; after ices, fruits, pasty. Bitter taste, diminished style of all food. Pain as from subcutaneous ulceration. Flatulence. Dislikes butter (Sang). Heartburn. Dyspepsia, with wonderful tightness after a meal; should loosen clothing. Thirstlessness, with almost all complaints. Vomiting of meals eaten lengthy before. Pain in belly an hour after ingesting (Nux). Weight as from a stone, mainly in morning on awakening. Gnawing, hungry feeling (Abies c). Perceptible pulsation in pit of belly (Asaf). All-gone sensation, specially in tea drinkers. Waterbrash, with foul style in the morning.
Abdomen.–Painful, distended; loud rumbling. Pressure as from a stone. Colic, with chilliness in evening.
Stool.–Rumbling, watery; worse, night time No two stools alike. After fruit (Ars; Chin). Blind haemorrhoids, with itching and sticking pains. Dysentery; mucus and blood, with chilliness (Merc; Rheum). Two or three regular stools daily.
Urine.–Increased desire; worse when mendacity down. Burning in orifice of urethra at some stage in and after micturition. Involuntary micturition at night, whilst coughing or passing flatus. After urinating, spasmodic ache in bladder.
Female.–Amenorrhoea (Cimicif; Senec; Polygon). Suppressed menses from moist feet, frightened debility, or chlorosis. Tardy menses. Too late, scanty, thick, dark, clotted, changeable, intermittent. Chilliness, nausea, downward pressure, painful, waft intermits. Leucorrhoea acrid, burning, creamy. Pain in back; worn-out feeling. Diarrhoea at some stage in or after menses.
Male.–Orchitis; ache from stomach to testicles. Thick, yellow discharge from urethra; late stage of gonorrhoea. Stricture; urine handed solely in drops, and circulate interrupted (Clemat). Acute prostatitis. Pain and tenesmus in urinating, worse mendacity on back.
Respiratory.–Capricious hoarseness; comes and goes. Dry cough in nighttime and at night; should take a seat up in mattress to get relief; and free cough in the morning, with copious mucous expectoration. Pressure upon the chest and soreness. Great affliction of epigastrium. Urine emitted with cough (Caust). Pain as from ulcer in center of chest. Expectoration bland, thick, bitter, greenish. Short breath, anxiety, and palpitation when mendacity on left aspect (Phos). Smothering sensation on mendacity down.
Sleep.–Wide wide awake in the evening; first sleep restless. Wakes languid, unrefreshed. Irresistible sleepiness in afternoon. Sleeps with fingers over head.
Back.–Shooting ache in the nape and back, between shoulders; in sacrum after sitting.
Extremities.–Drawing, tensive ache in thighs and legs, with restlessness, sleeplessness and chilliness. Pain in limbs, transferring rapidly; tensive pain, letting up with a snap. Numbness round elbow. Hip-joint painful. Knees swollen, with tearing, drawing pains. Boring ache in heels towards evening; struggling worse from letting the affected limb cling down (Vipera). Veins in forearms and palms swollen. Feet red, inflamed, swollen. Legs sense heavy and weary.
Skin.–Urticaria, after wealthy food, with diarrhoea, from delayed menses, worse undressing. Measles. Acne at puberty. Varicose veins.
Fever.–Chilliness, even in heat room, except thirst. Chilly with pains, in spots, worse evening. Chill about four pm. Intolerable burning warmth at night, with distended veins; warmth in components of body, coldness in other. One-sided sweat; pains at some stage in sweat. External warmness is intolerable, veins are distended. During apyrexia, headache, diarrhoea, loss of appetite, nausea.
Modalities.–Worse, from heat, wealthy fats food, after eating, toward evening, heat room, mendacity on left or on painless facet when permitting toes to grasp down. Better, open air, motion, bloodless applications, bloodless meals and drinks, although now not thirsty.
Relationship.–Penthorum, frequently indicated after Pulsatilla in later colds. Ionesia Asoca-Saraca indica–(Amenorrhoea. Menorrhagia-acts powerfully on lady organs. Abdominal pain). Atriplex (Uterine symptoms, amenorrhoea; hysteria, coldness between shoulders, dislike of heat food, craves odd foods, palpitation, sleeplessness). Pulsatilla Nuttaliana, same effects.
Compare: Cyclamen; Kali bich; Kali sulph; Sulphur. Pimenta-Allspice–(one-sided neuralgias, components of physique warm and cold).
Anagyris (headache, amenorrhoea).
Complementary: Coffea; Chamom; Nux.
Dose.–Third to thirtieth attenuation.
