Wild Yam
As a treatment for many types of pain, mainly colic, and in severe, painful affections of belly and pelvic viscera; it ranks with the polychrests of the Materia Medica. Persons of feeble digestive powers; tea-drinkers, with tons flatulence. Gall stone colic.
Mind.–Calls matters via the incorrect name.
Head.–Dull ache in each temples; higher pressure, however worse afterwards. Buzzing in head.
Stomach.–Mouth dry and bitter in morning, tongue coated, no thirst. Belching of massive portions of offensive gas. Neuralgia of stomach. Sinking at the pit of the stomach; pyrosis. Pain alongside sternum and extending into arms. Eructations of sour, bitter wind, with hiccough. Sharp ache in epigastrium, relieved through standing erect.
Abdomen.–Pains unexpectedly shift to unique parts; show up in faraway localities, as fingers and toes. Rumbling, with emission of tons flatus. Griping, slicing in hypogastric region, with intermittent slicing in belly and small intestines. Colic; higher on foot about; pains radiate from abdomen, to back, chest, arms; worse, bending forwards and whilst lying. Sharp pains from liver, taking pictures upward to proper nipple. Pain from gall-bladder to chest, back, and arms. Renal colic, with ache in extremities. Hurried want for stool.
Heart.–Angina pectoris; ache returned of sternum into arms; labored breathing; feeble motion of heart. Especially with flatulence and ache thru chest and tightness across.
Rectum.–Haemorrhoids, with darting pains to liver; seem to be like bunches or grapes or pink cherries; protrude after stool, with ache in anus. Diarrhoea (worse in morning), yellowish, accompanied with the aid of exhaustion, as if flatus and feces have been hot.
Male.–Relaxation and coldness of organs. Pains shoot into testicles from area of kidneys. Strong-smelling sweat on scrotum and pubes. Emissions in sleep, or from sexual atony, with susceptible knees.
Female.–Uterine colic; pains radiate from uterus. Vivid dreams.
Respiratory.–Tight feeling all alongside sternum. Chest does no longer appear to enlarge on breathing. Short-winded.
Extremities.–Lameness in back; worse, stooping. Aching and stiffness in joints. Sciatica; pains shoot down thigh; worse, proper side; better, when flawlessly still. Felons in beginning, when pricking is first felt. Nails brittle. Cramps in flexors of fingers and toes.
Modalities.–Worse, night and night, mendacity down, and doubling up. Better, standing erect, movement in open air; pressure.
Relationship.–Antidotes: Chamom; Camph.

Dose.–Tincture, to 0.33 potency.
