Malarial diseases, with diarrhoea, dysentery, anaemia, feeble digestion, are the regular prerequisites suggesting this remedy. Characteristics are the long past sensation in belly and sinking in abdomen, with debility. A tonic after hard fevers.
Abdomen.–Violent purging and cramp in bowels. Heat and inflammation in decrease bowels. Camp diarrhoea, bloody stool, dysentery; diarrhoea from terrible water and malaria. Painless watery stools (Phosph ac). Diarrhoea without delay after eating.
Relationship.–Compare: Similar in motion to Alstonia constricta, the bitter bark or native quinine of Australia. Ditain (active principle, is anti-periodic, like quinine, however barring disagreeable effects). Cinchona (similar in diarrhoea, persistent dyspepsia and debility). Hydrastis; Fer cit et chin.
Dose.–Tincture to 1/3 potency. Locally, for ulcers and rheumatic pains.
